A Span Is All That We Can Boast (2019)

Written over several years and recorded in the summer of 2018, “A Span Is All That We Can Boast” is my proudest achievement to date. We worked countless hours for years on this record. The album was half recorded in our guitarist’s living room/basement, and half at Humber College’s state of the art recording studio. Couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out, and I learned so many new things with this being the first true full length album I was a part of. As with all of my own personal projects, I try to keep the drums as natural as possible, minimal edits, zero quantizing, no triggers, and a drum sound that is true to the kit that I recorded on.

This album and it’s release sprouted many new friendships, and fostered a little community in our city, which led to music videos, a small tour of Canada’s East Coast, and sold out shows.

Proud to say I produced, co-wrote, and assisted with editing on this record.

Lost Cousins

Point No Point (2023)

Recorded in June 2021 at a secluded chalet in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, Point No Point was an adventure to make. I joined the band right before the pandemic took hold of the world, so a lot of the writing process for this album was done in isolation, and it took extensive coordination just to get things to happen. I had the privilege of sharing drum duties on this album with our singer Cam (who was the original drummer for the band), we each played about 50% of the songs on the record.

I was very excited to stretch my indie chops on this record, up until this point in my career I had almost exclusively been recording heavier rock and metal music, but indie rock like this is still something I listen to very often and really enjoy playing.

Producing and playing on this album is one of the few things I look back fondly on when thinking about the otherwise awful period of time that was the pandemic.

Highlight of the album for me is the final song “Leaving”, which I contributed the most to, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Shipley Hollow

Infinite Zest (2019)

This album was recorded in our guitarist Sean’s living room, and I think we tracked all of the drums in one session. I think out of all the records I’ve worked on, I’m most proud of my drum compositions on this one. These songs are insanely fun to play. Working with these guys forces you to get creative, and I made an effort to play beats and grooves that not only matched what everyone else was doing, but also were parts I had never heard any one else play before.

I go back to this album frequently, the parts are just so much fun to play and I can only hope that it resonates with others as much as it does for me.

Shipley Hollow

Change EP (2017)

I am very proud of this little EP. After joining Shipley Hollow just maybe under a year before this, this was the first record with them where I got to write some of the parts. We had just finished recording our “Eating the Entertainment” EP a few weeks prior to this, and were presented an opportunity to utilize more studio time, so we took it, and recorded the whole EP live off the floor in one session.

I remember it being so cold outside the night we recorded this that my floor tom started peeling. The energy in the room kept us warm though, as these songs were so much fun to play.

“Crepuscular Dystrophy” is still to this day one of my proudest works.

Shipley Hollow

Eating the Entertainment EP (2017)

This was my first recorded work with Shipley Hollow, even though it released after the “Change” EP. It was recorded as one of our member’s recording projects at Humber College. I had just joined the band several weeks prior and a lot of these songs were written by the previous lineup. I was adapting and altering some really incredible drum parts that were laid down by their previous drummer.

I was a fan of Shipley Hollow long before joining the group. I grew up alongside them as our different bands and projects shared the stage many times growing up, so they were always on my radar. When I got the offer to record and play shows with them the answer was an easy yes.

Parliament Owls EP (2017)

This EP acted as my final recording project for my time at Humber College. It felt like a bold decision to make; to a record a progressive post-hardcore record while attending a jazz program, but the school was supportive of all styles and genres. This allowed me to really go all out and showcase the world that I wanted to represent musically. I formed Parliament Owls initially with this recording project in mind, but we quickly realized we could take this project far beyond just the studio and we shortly began playing shows and looking for a singer after the release of this EP.

I did all the editing myself, and remember this being the first recorded release that I truly felt like it sounded how the music felt in my head while writing it. It was a big moment for younger me, and I’m happy I was able to take the project further and release a full length with this group a couple of years later.

Caitie’s Countdown to Christmas (2023)

Recorded over 2 days in 2022, this was a fun project working with Caitie for her highly successful children’s Youtube channel. Recorded alongside other Parliament Owls’ members Joseph Martel and Hayden Crocker, along with The Muppets and Pixar collaborator Zach Marsh, this album is full of multiple genres of music, and the arrangements were lots of fun to put together.

This was also the first project I worked on to crack over a million views/streams!

You Didn’t Want Me – Single (2022)

Recorded in 2021, Aeria was a friend from my college years, so when she reached out to see if I’d be down to play on one of her singles I was very on board. It was a lot of fun coming up a drum part to elevate the back half of the song.
